
Homeschool Enrichment for Arts & Electives (HEART) is a learning center that provides a safe place where homeschool students can come together to take Enrichment classes with high-quality instruction, participate in community events, go on field trips, and receive support and encouragement.
Providing Art and Electives classes for middle school through high school, we believe in igniting the joy of learning through engaging interaction, hands-on learning, and critical thinking. In the near future, we’ll be adding additional Arts and Electives for Elementary age students.
Our Athletic Classes are for ages 8 and up in a safe, encouraging, and positive environment with quality instruction with trainers and coaches.

Classes are taught in our Gainesville, VA facility, in a 4-quarter, 32-week academic year with 1 week between the ending and beginning of quarters We are open Monday through Thursday, 10am-12pm with Elective and Athletic Class options.
Classes meet just one or two times per week.
Classes are offered a la carte in a university model or packaged for Art and Athletics.
Classes will be offered in a Level 1 and Level 2 format to give more detailed instructions and advanced competencies to the Level 2 students.
In addition to regularly scheduled classes, our students will have opportunities for special activities like film festivals, Art exhibits of their work, internships, local business partnerships, College Prep, and Recommendations.

Our photography class introduces students to the digital world of photo, including DSLR and Mirrorless camera settings, lighting, framing, and an introduction to Adobe Lightroom editing. We will cover a variety of genres and disciplines to include, Portraits, Sports, Food, Studio, Landscape, Product, and much more.
As with all classes at Next Up Nova, it is taught by industry professionals and students will work in a hands-on environment, using the equipment themselves, and will work together in groups to accomplish some tasks and projects.
NO CAMERA REQUIRED. We have all camera equipment in-house, students will need a 64GB SD card or larger, so that they can save their work.

Creation and Content, our Video Production class is the staple of our creative arts curriculum. This program will introduce students to all 3 phases of video production— Pre-production, Production, and Post-production.
Students will learn camera settings, framing, filming techniques, and editing in a variety of environments including, short films, commercials, sports, social media ads, TV shows & Podcasts, music videos, and more.
Students will work in a hands-on environment, using the equipment themselves and will work together in groups to accomplish some tasks and projects

This is the introductory level editing course for DaVinci Resolve video editing software (free). This course teaches the essentials of digital video editing with DaVinci Resolve in hands-on training with an experienced editing professional instructor. We will learn how to use the interface and editing tools for producing high-quality movies, videos, commercials, and social media.
We will cover editing video, audio, adding graphics, slow motion, and color correction in one of the leading softwares in the industry. The course covers the entire video editing workflow from organizing assets to exporting a high-quality product for digital distribution.
Computer required. We have some computers and laptops in-house, but students are encouraged to use their own when possible for consistency. Students will need a 64GB SD card or larger, so that they can save their work.

Creative writing, creative thinking, and creative planning in a variety of genres including poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, playwriting, screenwriting.
This course is designed to help young people begin to unlock their creativity, practice tools to develop storytelling abilities, learn formatting, planning, outlining, and character development.
Students will work independently on projects and have the opportunity to collaborate with other students on projects as well.
No equipment required, just imagination and your student’s favorite writing utensils, whether pencil, pen, paper, tablet, or computer!
